Yes, I Have Breast Cancer… But I STILL Need to Work!
According to BreastCancer.org, in 2019, an estimated 268,600 new cases of invasive breast cancer is expected to be diagnosed in women in the U.S. As of January 2019, there are more than 3.1 million women with a history of breast cancer in the U.S. This includes women currently being treated and women who have finished treatment.”
I know, I am one of them. In 2016, I was diagnosed with a surprise Stage 3, Triple Negative Breast Cancer followed by surgery, aggressive chemotherapy and radiation. “It’s a tough time for many women who are anxious about chemo, their appearance, dignity, self-esteem, jobs and/or loss of income.” says Francina R. Harrison, MSW, known nationally as “The Career Engineer®” (TCE).
I’ve talked to women in the workforce who are fearful about breast cancer treatment and how it will impact their quality of life, career, and future. During my “Cancer, Chemo & Career” journey, powered by fierce faith; I was able to work my business, spoke at conferences and appeared on TV (often the day after chemo)! “That’s why this year’s TCE Summit’s theme, “The POWER of E: Engagement, Energy & Expectations, is so important. I have learned that a POWERED UP (mind, body & soul) set makes all the difference! We have to have “deeper ENGAGEMENT, focused ENERGY & Manage EXPECTATIONS,” Says The Career Engineer, the TCE Summit Host.
Don’t Get Anxious — Get Prepared! In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Career Engineer will provide a complimentary TCE Summit ticket (for every ticket purchased) to an employee diagnosed with breast cancer who is anxious about their employment future. Francina’s message, “Stay encourage and know that treatment is doable. Breast Cancer truly wins the moment you give up!” Call or Text 757–745–4823 for your tickets
