As Michelle Obama said, I have tried new thing which I am publishing here.

Here is a small research case study for the issue facing in the most popular app WhatsApp. I have also come with the solution to it.

WhatsApp Messenger is a freeware and cross-platform messaging and Voice over IP service owned by Facebook. The application allows the sending of text messages and voice calls, as well as video calls, images, and other media, documents, and user location.

In Addition, they have also had a feature Status. It is to express our feeling to the users in our contact list. In this, there also has an option called privacy. You can restrict the people to whom your status can reach.

Questions asked to the users:

1. Are you using WhatsApp Daily?

2. Are you using status?

3. How frequently you are using status privacy option.

4. Are you comfortable with the current privacy option for status?

Answers:

1. Mostly the people from the age 12–45, they are using the WhatsApp in their daily manner
2. People form the age 12–40 using the status option.
3. Mostly peoples using for every 2hrs, Womens using the privacy options more than men.
4. They felt difficult in using current privacy option. The main reason is they need to select the users every time for privacy.

What is the issue facing in current privacy settings?

Some of the users are quite busy, they tend to express their feeling to their wife, husbands, girlfriends, boss etc…

Each of them has a different category of people in their contact list. For example Family, Friends, Office, Personal etc.

Some of them tend to show some of their statuses to only personal category of peoples, and some for friends etc.

But in the current flow, every time I need to choose the user based on the category of people can see my status. Some of them having more than 300–500 contacts. They need to show the first status for office category(Ex: 200 peoples). Then the second status is for family(Ex: 100 peoples). It’s very hard for choosing each and every time.

Yes, It will solve the complexity of choosing the contacts each and every time.

How it works?

Step 1 — Creating the Group’s

For the first time using this, you need to create a group before.

Why I need to create a separate a group?. Because you need to select the predefined users with their respective category. You also select the same user in more than one group. This is an one time process.

Above Gif shows how this concept helps the users to selecting the people for their privacy. If you create a groups you don’t need to reselect or de-select the peoples. Just you need to select the peoples to whom you need to show or exclude your status.
