UX Designers are playing a very important and crucial role in society. There is only one bridge (UX Designers) that connects technology and users. In the last ten years, smartphones made a very strong grip on every person in society. It doesn’t matter you are educated or not, But everyone is using social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat & Twitter. Especially after the pandemic, everyone is compelled to do shop online, order food and grocery items. Now UX Designers have to do more work and make new strategies than in the past.

Let’s move towards our topic, I think most businesses and stakeholders still need to understand the skill set of UX Designers. They are not graphic designers or visual artists. According to some surveys, most UX Designers come from a graphic or visual design background but after years of hard work, study, and research they made themself UX Designers. It’s good to have an artistic eye and understanding of visual aesthetics but it doesn’t mean you can use your UX Designer for visual and graphical tasks.

“UX Designers makes people’s lives easier and Graphic Designers makes it colorful.”

By asking some questions I can easily explain how to differneinate between UX Designers and Graphic Designers.

Why we differentiate between a surgeon and a general physician (both are doctors)?

Why an architect do the job of a civil engineer (Both know about the buildings)?

Why a computer engineer can’t develop softwares?

I know that the above questions are silly but most businesses and stakeholders force UX Designers to do graphic designer’s tasks. In the design phase, they just want to see a colorful design layout as soon as possible, and when they launch the product in the market after sometime it goes down. When this happened they blame their design and development team.

This is the time we have to understand the role of the UX Designer in product development. I know they are many companies that differentiate between UX Designers and Graphics Designers. Through this, they are getting benefits and their products are successful in the market. But it is a tragedy most companies are just focusing on product delivery and by this, they are destroying UX Designers.

If a UX Designer doesn’t have a portfolio that needs to be based on case studies and problems they solved. If they didn’t practice user research methods, How they can be called UX Designers? If they didn’t work on information architecture, How they can understand the importance of content hierarchy in the product? They are too many questions that are still there to ask businesses, companies, and stakeholders.

In the end, it’s my humble request to stakeholders to please understand the role of UX Designers. Stop calling yourself UI/UX Designer because by this we are destroying the importance of UX.
