Why your product should stand out

Have anyone ever wonder why Naija made products don’t do well in the market ahead of the imported ones? Well, let me open your eyes to the reality behind this. It is packaging, you can’t spend your money on a roughly packaged product ahead of the clean and crisp ones.

The simple truth is that we often rush to get our products into the market anyhow skipping the fundamentals. We do this ahead of good planning to cash in quick and sacrifice quality of the look and feel of our products.

And at the end, the high expectations of users are not attended to which make them jump ship to opting for the foreign products. Many Naija app has been created over the years but where are they now? They are long gone in history excepts for some innovative young and vibrant youths that have taken their time to ask these why questions and has been able to solve that problem which is why they are able to compete with the foreign giants and boost our economy. Let me call names here, I know you all know PayStack, Flutter waves, hotels.ng and many of these indigenous giants make Africa proud.

What do you think has been working for them? Did I hear you say they are lucky? Yes, they are lucky because they knew the value of the users’ experiences interacting with their products. The simple truth is they follow the rules of thumb for impressing and retaining their audience with UI/UX.

UI/UX is the big deal its just like when you want to build a house you would have an architect design your mansion and sometimes the 3D design also come handy to have a clear picture of what you desire. That’s the same case as in UI/UX which stands for User Interface and User Experience.

My advice to our developers and inventors is for them to follow this rules. Yes, it will cost you money to get a good User Experience Designed but it would cost you your place in the market if you skip this stage. Skipping this stage don’t only cost you your place in the market but also cost you time and money in a long run.

This is a wake-up call for Nigerian and African inventors to start taking packaging important as it goes a long way to help your products sell itself. In Nigeria, we have many innovative minds with good ideas but with a bad UX those ideas always fail and a foreign individual will take this idea to refine it to meet the universal standard and before you know it the Naija products are forced out of business. Let us take User Experience important so as to build a creative economy for Nigeria and Africa at large.
