Perhaps the most frequent client requirement: We would like to have it done ASAP! Alternatively, they may set a particular deadline that has never been verified against some production plan and the company tries to impose such a deadline on the agency. This is why it may be useful to spend some words on how to set the redesign timetable and how to improve the redesign efficiency in terms of time and expenditures.

Prior to any redesign, the most important things is a preparation of good underlying materials. An agency may be useful in this; however, the largest portion of the efforts rests on yourselves as the agency will never possess the knowledge and insides relating to your business, or information specific to your market. Consequently, it will be extremely important to spend some time and effort on preparation of the underlying information in terms of a clear assignment and quantifiable goal, as high quality underlying information may save up to 50% of your time, make communication with the agency much easier and will help define unambiguously your requirements and expectations well in advance. It will be vital to consider two distinct views of the redesign: your own business view and that of your customers. These two views differ from each other and your goal is to find a good compromise in terms of fulfillment of your business goals through meeting the needs of your customers.

All available information will serve for the preparation of a project roadmap in terms of its timetable, to which you should add 20% as a reserve. Once you have the redesign roadmap ready, you can start launching the project. This should be borne in mind where the redesign timetable is fixed according to some concrete fixed date, such as the launch of a new plant, marketing of a new product, launching a campaign, etc. Any failure to dedicate an adequate amount of time to the preparation of high-quality underlying materials may result in a failure to comply with the handover time, increased costs and overall lack of redesign efficiency, and all this will be ultimately reflected in poor business efficiency.

Takeaway: High-quality underlying assets, clearly defined goal and realistic roadmap with time reserve = the Alpha and the Omega of a successful redesign
