User Experience branches
What are the different branches of User Experience?. I know you may have wondered what branches could I possibly mean. Well, do not be hasty, I will talk about it shortly. But first, what is User Experience? User Experience is the entire relationship a User has with a Product.
Diving straight into the branches. There are three(3) major branches of User Experience:
- Design
- Research
- Strategy
Design
The design aspect of User Experience consists of some sub-divisions. But basically, the design aspect of User Experience is largely dependent on the visuals, i.e, how the user interacts with the product visually. The sub-divisions are:
- Interaction Design: here you have to create a great interaction between the Users and the Products. It is the major part of the design sub-divisions.
- Visual Design: always talking with the Interaction Designer is very important so as to implement every feature to detail and make it pixel perfect.
- Service Design: the designer here draws the interaction between the User and the entire company or organisation that is offering the product.
- Information Architecture: the designer is concerned about how best it is to organize information for both on the screen and behind the screen.
Research
Research is defined as a careful consideration of study regarding a particular concern or a problem using scientific methods. Research in this context can be sub-divided into two(2) categories:
- User Research: spending time to understand how the Users interact with the product and also look for solutions to problems Users encounter.
- Accessibility: makes sure anyone can use the product be it a tech-savvy person or a lay man to tech.
Strategy
Strategy is defined as a plan of action designed to achieve a long-term goal. In User Experience, designing a long-term plan is important so as to ensure you meet business goals and also grow the company or organisation over a period of time by achieving the goals set. Strategising is divided to three(3) parts, namely:
- User Experience Strategy
- Content Strategy
- Customer Experience (CX)
On a final note, all branches of User Experience are important while creating a product. Following these branches will help you create a useful, usable and functional product for your target users.
