🏙️ 🌇 Riding in the city isn’t as bad as you think

I get people’s inclination to stay out of the city on motorcycles. I really do.

The city gives you plenty reasons to do so. Noise cameras, congestion tolls, pot holes, traffic, horses (!), scooters, etc etc etc.

I’ve been riding year-round in the city for years and absolutely love 95% of it. As far as I’m concerned, my reasons to ride outnumber reasons not to:

  1. I’ll get there faster than Uber, the subway, the bus, or anything else you throw at me.
  2. Weaving in and out of traffic (responsibly; don’t kill anyone) is hella fun.
  3. Riding around the city has made me a safer/better rider. The list of shit you’ve gotta avoid in the city while on a bike is massive and I’ve had to spin around it all on a daily basis. Cars, pedestrians, metal plates, pot holes, construction, horses (yep, stay away from central park and the 50’s on the west side), scooters & delivery drivers, etc.
  4. Park anywhere. Just use your head; don’t park right in front of a hydrant, don’t block traffic (pedestrian or vehicle), and try not to leave a nice bike in huge tourist areas (they will think it’s a prop and will proceed to sit on the damn thing).
  5. It’s a fantastic conversation starter. The amount of people I’ve met and friends I’ve made while on my bike in the city is staggering. Showing up to an outdoor event on a motorcycle is baller too.
  6. It’s just damn cool. The number of kids that I wave to (most wave back) after I catch them staring is super satisfying. You’re like a power ranger running through the city and if your bike is red enough, you’ll get all the attention. Just don’t expect to actually pick up girls on one; they’re not as interested as you hope they’d be.

Do you ride in the city?

Super thrilled to announce the winner of our Kriega backpack contest!

I’ll be reaching out the winner individually.

🏖️ 🛣️ Let’s go on a tour of the Hamptons

A buddy of mine and I headed out to the Hamptons for a weekend and explored damn near all of it. He knew the area well but was my first time there.

We rode around the South Fork through Sag Harbor twists, out to the Montauk lighthouse and hit up Dune Road on the way back.

The Montauk Lighthouse

Truly a memorable ride with awesome views, twists, fast straights, and good food.

All that makes it one of the best riding weekends I’ve had so naturally, I’ve built a route for it. Head out there before it gets too damn cold to leave the house.
