NYC Opportunity Collaborative Innovation Winners

The Mayor’s Office for Economic Opportunity (NYC Opportunity) has selected five projects submitted in response to our “Call for Innovation,” all of which propose creative new approaches to improving human services for vulnerable New Yorkers.

The Call, which we issued to all City agencies in September 2018, was designed to address the fact that vulnerable City residents often face challenges that do not fall neatly within the responsibility of a single agency. It invited agencies to propose new ways for agencies to strengthen partnerships and work collaboratively to address the challenges of low-income New Yorkers in a more holistic way.

The selected projects include:

  • Improving Attendance for Students in Temporary Housing, a collaboration of the Department of Education (DOE) and the Department of Homeless Services (DHS)
  • Environments Promoting Wellness and Resilience, a collaboration of the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH), the Human Resources Administration (HRA), and the Administration for Children’s Services (ACS)
  • Towards a Continuum of Citywide Support, a collaboration of ACS and DOHMH
  • Pathways to College and Careers, a collaboration of the CUNY John Jay College Criminal Justice Prisoner Reentry Institute and the SUNY Manhattan Educational Opportunity Center
  • Integrated Case Management for Street Homeless Clients, a collaboration with DHS
