EquityNYC, New York City’s interactive online equity data tool, has updated its data!

The site now includes data sets through 2023, disaggregated by race/ethnicity, gender, income, sexual orientation, and neighborhood, as well as mapped data on well-being, service delivery, service locations, and population demographics.

There are now 237 indicators and 130 maps, sourced from 59 City agencies. New metrics include Big Apple Connect Participants and Immigrant Rights Workshop Participants.

EquityNYC is an interactive digital version of the City’s Social Indicators and Equity Report. It is mandated by the City Charter, and further described in Executive Order 45. It tracks data in eight broad categories, which cut across the responsibilities of City agencies: education, health and wellbeing, housing, empowered residents and neighborhoods, economic security and mobility, core infrastructure and the environment, personal and community safety, and diverse and inclusive government.

The EquityNYC site also features Mapping Equity, a tool that maps local data to present a geographic picture of New Yorkers’ quality of life, service distribution, and demographics.

The site also has Equity Stories. These stories go beyond the data to explore the ways in which equity data has an impact on the city, including by catalyzing community action and promotes policy changes.

As part of our annual data collection, we survey agencies on the strategies they use to incorporate equity practices into their work. Read our full Equity Story on the responses we received from 35 agencies here.

A few highlights:

  • 57% of agencies reported that they provide division-wide and/or agency-wide trainings to employees focused on equity-related concepts or skills.
