Ft. Worth’s Bitcoin Mining Adventure

This was a nice headline to wake up this past week. Ft. Worth, TX (sister city of Dallas, TX) is the first U.S. city to officially mine Bitcoin, in a push to become a major technology hub. Mayor Mattie Parker, the city’s first millennial mayor, doesn’t believe mining will make a profit, but the project will help put Ft Worth on the map in the cryptoasset arena. She said: “We want to change that conversation, and we believe that tech innovation including cryptocurrency is the way we’re going to do that.”
Bravo Ft. Worth! These are the kind of experiments that we need cities to explore so their respective citizens start to learn and understand how beneficial cryptocurrency can truly be. Fear and misunderstanding is what creates a barrier to full adoption, and I’m hoping Ft Worth creates the blueprint to break through that!
