Our wildlife biologists released an immature bald eagle at Downsville Dam on October 4, only three days after the eagle was rescued from turbulent water by DEP Police.

DEP Police rescuing the eagle on October 1.

The eagle was stranded on a ledge at the West Delaware Release Chamber at Cannonsville Reservoir. DEP Police rescued the eagle, which was brought to Friends of the Feathered and Furry Wildlife Center in the Catskills.

The eagle was released at Pepacton Resevoir on October 4.

The eagle received a check-up and a clean bill of health at the center, allowing it to be released back into the wild at Pepacton Reservoir. The team effort to rescue and barelease the eagle included many DEP staff and officers from the state Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC).
