Humans of the Bronfman Center — Sylvia Coopersmith
I tell people that I’m a part of this community — and by wanting a home here, you get a home here, regardless of your level of commitment.
I’m a part of a club called TorchPAC, which aims to be a space for students to talk about the politics of Israel on campus and in the Middle East. We also do advocacy work with important legislators, get experience lobbying, and so on. The club isn’t a Bronfman club, but we do tend to host a lot of meetings here.
At the start of this semester, I was an orientation leader for Welcome Week which was pretty fun. Along with meeting a ton of first-years and trying to get them involved, I also met a lot of other upperclassmen through being a leader, and now I feel like I have so many more friends and connections through Bronfman.
I’ve gotten a lot of people to get involved with some of the clubs I’m in outside of Bronfman now, too, which is really cool. I have a little piece of my Jewish community with me everywhere.
Sylvia Coopersmith is a sophomore in Gallatin studying Gene and Scene: Neurodevelopment Narratives Confronted with Theater.
