NEW MESSAGE //
It feels like a scheduled fire drill. It’s actually a code red for humanity. That’s why we need a new message.
The IPCC report of last week is unequivocal. We are now in the red zone, our climate is changing faster than expected.
It’s 15 years after Gore’s ‘An Inconvenient Truth’ and years since the first warnings about man-made Global Warming. The urgency has escalated, yet the message has not changed.
It is always the same.
1. The world is heating up
2. CO2 emissions by humans is the cause
3. We need meaningful action right now.
This is all too vague!
“We’ve got to do something now”
“We cannot wait any longer”
“Now is the time to act”
But do what?
Another conversation? Another petition?
🛑 No. We have to STOP talking.
💡 We all KNOW what to do.
▶️ So let’s start DOING it.
Let’s ACT now.
Not on a global scale, but simply on a local scale.
I alone cannot change the whole planet.
Together with my community I can have a big impact on my pocket of the planet.
Let’s start small.
Let’s do something TODAY.
What can I do to make my pocket of the planet more beautiful, inclusive and sustainable.
🌳 Plant a tree
🍉 Organise a BBQ (virtual if needed) with your neighbours
🖊️ Write down and share your idea to improve your neighbourhood
When we create MANY local place based mini missions and we connect them together, the world will become a better place.
The O initiative is creating a wave of change with many mini missions.
Because I believe the new message should be Act Now, Act Small, Act Local.
