O3 Swap
Today we are launching O3 Swap, a new service to easily buy NEO, GAS or ONT with other mainstream cryptocurrencies. Since our aim is to be the main gateway to the smart economy we need to be able to have a simple way for users to get started in the NEO and Ontology ecosystems.
The soon to be released fiat gateway where you will be able to buy NEO directly with VISA or Mastercard will play a big part in this. But there are also a lot of people that already own some Bitcoin or Ethereum, that they bought for example on Coinbase or a local exchange for their country. O3 Swap enables them to simply send in their BTC, ETH, XRP, LTC (etc.) and receive NEO, GAS or ONT straight into their O3 wallet.
Besides that, O3 Swap is also useful for people who want to go from ONT to NEO or NEO to ONT directly from within O3 without using an external exchange. At this stage other pairs like GAS to ONT are still unavailable, but we hope to be able to offer them in the future, together with ONG pairs.
How to use O3 Swap
O3 Swap can be found in the apps page of O3 for both Desktop and Mobile. The process to buy is very simple.
Upon opening O3 Swap you will get a request to connect. This will make sure that the funds that you buy will end up in your selected O3 wallet. Next, just select what you want to buy, what currency you want to pay with, and fill in the amounts.
If you use a currency native to O3 to pay with, the whole process will be made through the O3 dAPI (more info here) and a send screen will initiate. If you use non-O3 supported currencies like BTC, you will have to send the funds to the given address manually.
*IMPORTANT NOTE: Both NEO and ONT are indivisible, meaning that it is not possible to receive for example 0.25 NEO. The rates for NEO and ONT automatically get rounded down to the nearest whole number. Please always make sure that you are completely satisfied with the rate you are getting before proceeding with buying, and know that the rate can still change if your payment takes too long.
Please double check if there are no mistakes and you agree with the given rates. After confirming the transaction you can send a receipt to yourself by email if you would like to. We highly recommend you to always do this just in case something happens or you want to check the status of your transaction. Since trades are made between currencies on different blockchains transactions can take up to multiple hours depending on the currency you are using and the network status of this currency. For most currencies your transaction will be confirmed within an hour, for some even within minutes.
