One of the most highly requested features at the end of 2018 was to add the ability to stake ONT from the O3 wallet. Over the holidays we were busy in the kitchen cooking something up for you all, and today we are proud to announce that staking as officially been added!

Supported Features

  • Browsing of available Ontology consensus and candidate nodes
  • Managing stake using your NEO compatible addresses (including Ledger)
  • Authorizing new ONT stakes
  • Withdrawing previously staked ONT
  • Claiming ONG staking rewards
  • Claiming ONG normally accrued for each ONT staked

O3 connected dApp

The staking feature is implemented as an Ontology dApp using the dAPI protocol from within your O3 wallet. While the staking methods are not currently a part of the dAPI protocol, the O3 dAPI implements an enhanced version of this protocol to provide developers with support for the standard plus a little extra.

The dApp is called Staketology, and can be found in the relatively new Apps section of the O3 wallet. The dApp has it’s own custom interface and interacts with the funds in your O3 wallet with a signing protocol similar to the experience of using web3 in a browser for Ethereum. Anytime the dApp would like to execute a transaction on your behalf, you will be prompted to confirm the details from within the O3 wallet.

On initial release, the Staketology dApp will be available to use in the O3 desktop app, version 1.2.0+, with support for the O3 iOS and Android apps coming soon!
