A’s Recall OF Fowler from Nashville; Option RHP Montas to Nashville

The Oakland A’s recalled outfielder Dustin Fowler from Triple-A Nashville and optioned right-handed pitcher Frankie Montas to Nashville, the club announced today.

Fowler joins the A’s for the second time this year after hitting .231 with six home runs and 21 RBI in 59 games from May 9 to August 1. He batted .379 with 10 doubles, three triples, a home run and 11 RBI in 25 games with the Sounds following his August 1 option. The 23-year-old left-handed hitter had a .341 batting average, four home runs, 27 RBI and 13 stolen bases in 55 games overall with Nashville.

Montas was recalled from Nashville yesterday and started and lost last night against Seattle. He allowed seven runs on eight hits in 6.0 innings to fall to 5–4 with a 3.96 ERA in 11 starts over three stints with Oakland.
