Mech Subteam: Tupperware Isn’t Waterproof

Mechanical Subteam is working on creating battery boxes to keep the boat’s electronics safe from splashing. Our batteries are a somewhat awkward size and shape, so in the hopes of finding a quick solution for use in testing, we ordered some plastic food containers. Today, we lowered them into a miniature pool to see whether they were up to the task of protecting our batteries. While all were splashproof to some degree, none held up under the pressure of the kiddie pool test. Some bubbled dramatically and others looked promising until we noticed the rivulets of water running down the insides. It looks like we’ll be fabricating our own waterproof boxes.
