Live Music at South Street!
The South Street Community Hub is an initiative of Oasis Church, Birmingham, which exists to build connection and community for the people of Harborne through regular activities and one-off events.
Oasis has a history of putting on music events in the city. Established in 2008, Impact Birmingham was an initiative which aimed to support Birmingham’s vibrant music scene through providing recording opportunities for local artists and putting on high quality live music events. It sought to show God’s love to local artists through the support it gave them and the way they were cared for at the gigs.
Now in 2025, we are really excited to be hosting a brand new live music event in our beautiful South Street building! Through such events, we are seeking to celebrate up-and-coming local artists and support the arts in our city. It’s a great opportunity to invite members of the community to South Street for a low-pressure evening celebrating creativity.
The pilot event will take place on Friday 14th November, with doors opening at 7:45pm. The gig will be headlined by Birmingham-based ambient electronics and synth trio, Her Revelation, who combine electronic and vocal improvisation with thought-provoking lyrics, to create mesmerising, emotional music. They will be supported by Piera Onacko, a pianist, synth player and composer with roots in improvisation and jazz practices.
The Oasis Bar will be open, featuring craft beer from Birmingham Brewing Company alongside a range of other drinks options. The minimum attendance age is 14, and all 14–18-year-olds should be accompanied by an adult. Tickets cost £6 (plus booking fee) in advance, or £8 on the door, and are available by clicking here.
If you enjoy live music, or if you’re passionate about welcoming people who have different perspectives and experiences into a nonjudgmental space at South Street, this is an evening you will really enjoy.
Car Parking
There is very limited car parking available at the church itself, which is reserved for those with blue badges. Free parking is, however, available on the surrounding streets, as well as the York Street car park, B17 0HG, which is five minutes’ walk away and costs £2.60 for four hours. Please do park considerately to help us be good neighbours in our community, including not parking up on the pavement on the ‘church-side’ of South Street.
Accessibility
There are two steps up to the main entrance, but an accessible entrance is located down the left-hand-side (marked ‘Cadbury Entrance’). Once inside the building, there is step-free access throughout to all publicly-accessible areas. An accessible toilet is available towards the rear of the building — follow internal signs for ‘Toilets’ and you will find it at the end of the corridor.
