Sunday Meetings Moving to the Church Online Platform
A new home for our Online Services
Over the past few months, we have been using Zoom to host our Online Sunday meetings; giving us the opportunity to continue connecting together for worship, prayer, teaching, encouragement and community throughout this season. Aside from a few technical hiccups, hopefully you’ve found it a helpful way to keep plugging in, even if it’s not the same as gathering physically.
From Sunday 18th October though, we are moving to a brand new platform for our Sunday Meetings: The Church Online Platform. Here’s Rich to explain a bit more:
Why are we changing?
Our goal is to keep developing our online Sunday Meetings to ensure that they are as accessible and engaging as possible. Zoom has served us really well, and will continue to be used for smaller gatherings like our Sunday Catchups, Small Groups, Daily Devotionals and Engage Youth, but it’s not designed for key elements of our meetings such as live worship. Now that we are able to broadcast from South Street, this gives us the ability to host larger, socially-distant bands to lead our times of worship, and a purpose-built platform will help ensure that the quality of what you are seeing and hearing throughout the meeting is higher than it can be on Zoom.
In addition to the chat feed (which works similarly to Zoom), the Church Online Platform also has a number of specific features which will really add to our gatherings - the ability to request prayer and open up a conversation with a member of the prayer team, a built-in Bible you can use to look up passages, and a space for extra notes from the talk. It can also be accessed through a web browser on both computers and mobile devices, without the need for extra apps, making it more accessible to those joining our meetings for the first time.
How do I join on Sunday?
To join, all you will need to do is head to: https://theoasischurch.online.church
You can also get there by clicking on the “Click Here to Join us Live” button on our church website at www.theoasischurch.com
When you arrive on the page, you will see a countdown to the next meeting. We will “go live” at 10:15am for our 15 minute Welcome Slot as usual, ahead of starting the meeting itself at 10:30am.
What if I have any problems?
If you have any problems of questions at all, get in touch with Rich on email@example.com and he will do his best to help you out. If you do run into a problem on the 18th or 25th October, you will still be able to access the service via Zoom as before, whilst we help you set up.
