Below is a weekly email sent recapping updates and what’s to come on the Oasis Network. This goes to all Oasis public testnet vaildators, Oasis Quest competitors, and many community supporters. Click here to subscribe.

Hi All —

Happy Turkey Day to all of those based in the US! Hope you have a restful long weekend without having to explain what blockchain is to too many relatives :).

A few big updates on our latest network upgrade, incentives, and The Quest competition below.

Network Updates:

  • Upgrade to the new network: Yesterday we deployed the first Public Testnet Network upgrade. Please follow the new documentation here to get set up on the new version of the network. We’ll plan to run one more coordinated test in a week or so too so please be on the lookout.
  • For those of you who have already successfully deployed on the previous release: Take note of the instructions on the page linked above on how to upgrade.
  • Sentry Node support: Many of you have also asked for sentry node support. Documentation is here on how to go about that setup. Let us know if you have questions of course as you do.
  • Set up your node: Finally if you missed the office hours on how to set up a node but wanted to follow along, check out this video that gives a step-by-step walkthrough of the current public testnet setup.

The Quest: Round 1 Updates:

  • Timing: Given the upcoming holidays that many will be celebrating in December, we’ve decided that we will kick off the competition in early January. This will give you more time to set up nodes and ensure that when we start the program we’re all rearing and ready to go!
  • More on the competition: We just published a longer set of rules and guidelines for the competition. We hope this answers some of your questions. Please take a look and let us know if you have any feedback.
  • How to sign up: Just follow these simple steps:
  1. Set up a node on the Oasis Network today. Documentation of how to do so is here.
  2. Sign up here. Note that you will need to sign a waiver as a part of this process. It is linked in the signup form.

Proposed Network Incentives:

To provide feedback and ask questions, join the Oasis community slack channel or Telegram community channel.
