Hi All,

Welcome to another awesome week of the Oasis Amber Network.

A ton of logistical and tactical updates below, but before we get into that I also wanted to make sure you saw the most recent blog post outlining the vision of the Network, the technology behind it, and some of the use cases we’re seeing play out in real time. It’s an interesting read (I’m not biased at all…) and more importantly speaks to the AMAZING work all of YOU have done.

The Oasis Network is well on its way to actualizing a vision of creating a better internet, but that’s only possible because of the dedication from all of you to decentralize the network, create tooling and applications, build leaderboards and block explorers, file bugs, issues and help others (including us!) troubleshoot things every day. I can’t say this enough — THANK YOU!

And now…onto making this network even better:

Proposed Amber Network Upgrade — Next Thursday (July 30)

Before we move to the Mainnet Dry Run we are proposing one more upgrade to the Amber Network.

The upgrade is planned for next Thursday July 30 at 9:00am PST. Please mark your calendars now and we will send an email confirming this again once we’ve done an internal dry run.

Features we will propose in this upgrade include:

  • Increasing the Consensus Committee size to 100 top validates (currently 70)
  • Fine-tuning block rewards
  • General bug fixes

Running a community node but need some technical guidance?

We’re excited to announce that the team at Ankr is teaming up with us to offer technical support to community node runners interested in trying out the network. To get set up please first apply to be a community node here and once you’re approved (aka you’ve received a delegation), reach out to Jamie at Ankr for next steps (jamie@ankr.com)!

Join us at the Responsible Data Summit!

A quick plug for an amazing conference that Dawn (and many of us at Oasis) are working to put on focused on data privacy, data rights and the building of a responsible data economy.

The conference is virtual and will take place over multiple weeks with tracks focused on different topics including responsible data use in the time of COVID, responsible data innovation and development, and privacy and decentralization (an awesome event that includes a talk from Iqlusion’s very own Zaki Manian among many others!).

Please check it out and join us and follow the Responsible Data Summit on twitter here.
