Congrats to everyone for the speedy upgrade. We were up and running in less than an hour for the FOURTH time! This is becoming a habit.

A few updates below including the first leaderboard, some clarifications about how stake-weighted voting power on the network works, and more.

Also for those interested in receiving these updates via email sign up here.

May Competition leaderboard: 35-way tie for first!

Wow good work to all those at the top of the leaderboard. We currently have a 35 way tie! 1st place leaders below (in alpha order), full board here.

As a reminder the formula we’re using for May Availability is:

Best Availability (v3) = Blocks Signed + ((Blocks Proposed / Times Selected as Proposer) * Blocks with Node in Validator Committee)

This requires, among other criteria, for the node to be registered and online and signing blocks and proposing blocks, including proposing blocks when another node fails to propose a block.

Clarification around stake-weighted voting power

Some of you have asked how exactly stake-weighted voting power is managed on the network so we wanted to highlight some info from our docs that we thought might help. Full incentives here.

The current voting power mechanism is stake-weighted. This means that the consensus voting power of a validator is proportional to its stake. In this model, the network will require signatures by validators representing +2/3 of the total stake of the committee to sign a block. Note that in Tendermint, a validator’s opportunities to propose a block in the round-robin block proposer order are also proportional to its voting power.

WeChat validator channel

For those of you who like to get updates on WeChat we’ve also added a channel there. Just use the QR Code here. Note that the definitive channel for all updates is still #nodeoperators in our slack channel, but we’ll do our best to provide updates and encourage discussion / answer questions on WeChat too.

Thanks as always,

Anne
