Today at the fourth Virtual Reality Venture Capital Alliance meeting, ObEN showcased the world’s first integrated virtual reality (VR) experience between any user from Tencent’s WeChat service on smartphones and users on the HTC Vive (Vive).

Enabled by ObEN’s breakthrough artificial intelligence technology, this enhanced social experience allows all Vive VR users and WeChat’s 889 million mobile users to interact with each other in the same virtual space in real time. Users of Vive and WeChat can interact with one another’s photo-realistic avatars that look, sound and behave like their real world counterparts, making the experience more engaging, social and memorable. By bringing WeChat into the VR world, Vive users will never miss any WeChat interaction from friends while inside VR.

This landmark integration of VR with China’s most popular social platform creates a truly social VR experience. ObEN’s Personal AI combines voice, visuals and skills, resulting in a personalized smart avatar. This new service lets any WeChat user create their life-like VR avatars on their mobile device directly using WeChat by just uploading one selfie photo. Vive users can then customize their avatars in a virtual dressing room and engage in VR-to- mobile group messaging on WeChat. Furthermore, they will be able to take selfies in VR and share it with other VR or mobile users, invite other VR and mobile users into their VR experience, and can even enjoy VR-to- mobile singing duets using ObEN’s AI music bot, all via WeChat or in the Vive.

“China is a world leader in both mobile internet and VR adoption. We are thrilled to join forces with Tencent and HTC Vive to tackle the challenge of improving Social VR experiences using ObEN’s AI technology” said Nikhil Jain, cofounder and CEO, ObEN, Inc. “Today’s showcase not only enables shared experiences between users of China’s top social and VR platform but is also an early demonstration of how ObEN’s Personal AI can drive and create AI generated content. ”

“VR social networks offer a tremendous opportunity to drive mass VR adoption,” said Alvin Wang Graylin, President, HTC Vive China. “With ObEN’s new API offering, any Vive user can now stay connected with their existing friends on WeChat in a fun and easy way, and offering an innovative way to share unique social experiences.”

ObEN’s APIS will be available to VIVEPORT developers later this year.
