ObEN Explores New Applications of PAI in VR/AR Through SoftBank Innovation Program
Recently, leading international conglomerate SoftBank announced the third group of participants in its SoftBank Innovation Program and ObEN was among the 8 companies selected for 2018!
The SoftBank Innovation Program combines the solutions of select innovative companies worldwide with the resources and technology of SoftBank Corp., helping to commercialize these solutions for a global market. SoftBank, a subsidiary of SoftBank Group Corp, created the SoftBank Innovation Program with the aim to create new value by funding prototype solution development and aid in test marketing for program participants. SoftBank Ventures Korea Corp. has been a long-time supporter of ObEN, having previously invested in our Series A round of funding.
For the Innovation Program, SoftBank was particularly interested in the opportunities for integrating ObEN’s technology within the VR/AR space. With a single selfie and a short voice recording, our full-stack AI technology allows users to create their own PAI, an intelligent 3D avatar that looks, talks, and even sings like the them. In addition to creating social content in AR/VR, PAI can be utilized in virtual meetings as representatives of an individual, or serve as digital triage in the medical space with PAIs of doctors and nurses. Enhanced with VR/AR, the PAIs can deliver more personalized experiences across numerous applications.
To ensure the security of the PAIs, as well as the associated data, ObEN has adopted the Project PAI blockchain and is developing applications featuring our PAI technology on the blockchain. This includes PAIYO — our social application coming later this year — which allows users to create their own PAI, authenticate and secure it on the Project PAI blockchain, and create fun videos in AR featuring their PAI dancing and singing in their own voice!
