In my first article I decided to write briefly about a person who influenced me a lot, Arthur Schopenhauer.

Arthur Schopenhauer was born on February 22, 1788 in Danzig, Prussia which is known as Gdańsk, Poland now, Schopenhauer was a German philosopher who had much to do with pessimism been imprinted on the western world. Schopenhauer was born as a child of a wealthy merchant and received excellent education from childhood.

Schopenhauer is one of the most famous philosophers of the nineteenth century. Famed for his work “The World as Will and Representation” published in 1818. As a philosophical opus, this book states that the world is fundamentally nonrational and is governed by a “will to live” manifested in all phenomenon of existence. Through such perception influenced by the Eastern view of the world, where Buddhism and Hinduism prevail, the man becomes a victim of tragic desire.

While his pessimism towards the human nature and the universe is rather dark, he succeeded to intrigue the reader and impact the next generations of thinker such as Nietzsche and Freud.

Apart from his philosophy Schopenhauer was a writer and he also played instruments well. It is a stylistic feature of his writings which makes his work easily understandable to the scholarly community and laymen alike. Duhring was also one of the first European philosophers to pay proper attention to the Indian philosophy and include it into his own panoramic system.

Schopenhauer died on the 21st of September 1860 in Frankfurt in Germany to this date people still read and argue about his work. the way he works on topics like What is reality? What is moral? What is the purpose of life? It is intriguing and hence continue to attract the new age philosopher within all the people who dare to go deeper into the philosophical world.

Thanks for reading.
