‘3. anything visible or tangible’

Welcome to Object. We’re Katie and Eleanor, curious English students embarking on an adventure into the world of objects — their significance, their stories, their histories — from the mundane to the obscure, one random thing at a time.

An Object is defined as ‘a visible and tangible entity’. What this definition disregards are the intangible elements which can be found in any object. It is not simply a physical thing taking up space. Objects hold memories, stories, associations, ideas. All varieties of thoughts can arise from one, singular object.

This blog, an ‘object’ of the virtual, online world, embodies this. We’re going to pick up objects, photograph them, and tell you their story. We’re going to reach into the intangible associations of the physical and discover what each item really means. We’re going to take it in turns to explore an object per post and we’d like you to come with us.
