No, Meyers didn’t work in television. He did create the Meyers Manx Dune Buggy, “the most copied vehicle in history”.

I was just doing a bit of free association. Please bear with me.

Who

Bruce F. Meyers was born on March 12, 1926, in Los Angeles, California.

Henry Ford (yes, that Henry Ford) had sent his father to set up the first Ford dealerships in California. The Meyers family settled in Hermosa and later lived in Manhattan Beach. Bruce spent many hours of his childhood and teenage years at the beach, learning to surf and drag racing.

When World War II broke out, Meyers joined the Navy and was assigned to the Bunker Hill aircraft carrier. The ship was hit hard by two Kamikazes during the battle of Okinawa in 1945. Meyers not only survived, but was saved a burned pilot from drowning while swimming back to safety.

After the war Meyers attended art schools in San Francisco and Los Angeles. But his itch to return to sea led him on a voyage to the South Pacific. He spent time in the Cook Islands and in Tahiti before returning to the U.S. On his…
