Lucid: training your brain for performance
Today I’m pleased to announce a new Obvious Ventures investment:
Lucid was co-founded by Jason Stirman, a Twitter and Medium veteran, and Soren Gordhamer, founder of the Wisdom 2.0 conference. At Obvious, we’ve shared offices and broken bread with Jason during his Medium years when he worked closely with our co-founder Ev Williams.
When a tech innovator joins forces with a leader in the Mindfulness community, sparks fly! We couldn’t be more excited about the hybrid vigor that this founding team represents. Today the Lucid team is delivering on the first step of their vision to use brain training for increasing human performance: Mental Training for Athletes with the Lucid iOS App.
Jason and Soren have partnered with the top names in athletic mental training, including the man who literally wrote the book on the topic — George Mumford.
Michael Jordan credits George Mumford with transforming his on-court leadership of the Bulls, helping Jordan lead the team to six NBA championships. Mumford also helped Kobe Bryant, Andrew Bynum, Lamar Odom and countless other NBA players improve their games. Now athletes of all ages and skill ranges can take advantage of those same mind training techniques with Lucid.
Obvious Ventures co-led an investment in Lucid with our good friends at True Ventures and I have the great pleasure of serving on the Lucid Board (and sitting in silence with Jason and Soren at the start of each board meeting).
Please install the app, try the service, and let me know what you think.
