One-click web scraping is (almost) here. And it’s free!
Ok, technically it will be 2 clicks, but the rest is true. We are currently testing a Chrome plugin which will allow users to start scraping any web page by simply pressing right mouse button on the page content, and choosing scraping options from the menu.
You will have 2 options:
- Observe in my browser
- Observe in the cloud
1st option will use your own browser for the scraping. You may continue using the browser, and the plugin will open the web page in a separate tab, every 5 minutes or whatever interval you choose, check the content you wanted to monitor, and let you know as soon as a change in the content is detected. You will be notified via an email, a WhatsApp message, or an alert displayed directly in your browser. This option is 100% free and there will be no limits to the amount of pages observed or notifications delivered.
The “in the cloud” option will send a request to https://obzrv.it and let the service handle the scraping for you. You may turn your computer off, and the scraping will continue in Obzrv.it’s cloud infrastructure. Once a change is detected, you will get an email, or a mobile (WhatsApp/Messenger) notification about the change. You can also browse changes history in the service. You can scrape up to 10 pages using the free plan, and upgrade to a paid plan when needed — check the pricing for details.
We are still testing the plugin and hope to relase it in coming weeks. Follow me to hear about the progress, as well as other features we are working on.
