On 18th of April, we announced the launch of the Occelerator Hackathon. A way for projects looking to launch on Cardano to gain development insight and funding, Occelerator had many applications from projects both big and small. We were overwhelmed with the response, and we are incredibly excited to see the passion for OccamRazer and our launchpad environment.
But it soon became apparent that there were simply too many interesting projects and applicants to choose from. Ultimately, with our expert partners at the Israeli Blockchain Association — and after discussions with the most promising teams who applied — we decided that the Occelerator Hackathon would have to transform into something much more than just a hackathon.
Here, we are going to introduce what that will look like. We also want to hear your voice and opinions on how you see Occelerator transforming in the future. Let’s get started!
The Occelerator hackathon becomes an incubator program!
Whoever coined the phrase “too much of a good thing” obviously wasn’t talking about projects building on Cardano!
The sheer number of projects we had apply through Occelerator required Occam.fi to hire a new business development team member, and given the calibre of projects that applied and what we learned along the way, we are delighted to announce that the Occelerator will live on!
Instead of a single, time-limited event, we will now take steps to make the Occelerator into an ongoing incubation and accelerator programme for early-stage Cardano projects who have the eventual aim of launching an IDO through OccamRazer.
It quickly became apparent during the course of the Occelerator Hackathon that it would soon outgrow a simple one-time event, and we are excited to see what we can build out of the Occelerator concept. Above all, we look forward to offering a unified incubator and launchpad solution for the most promising projects on Cardano. So, with a bit of tweaking, Occelerator will soon become available as a fully-fledged incubator for promising projects to apply to.
So, you’re now probably wondering, what are the next steps for the Occelerator program?
Occelerator project pipeline
We have a pipeline of projects lined up to announce through the Occelerator program. The first of these, one which we feel is a truly exciting and needed addition to the Cardano ecosystem, will be announced very shortly.
The applications we received ranged from NFT platforms, to specially-designed custodial wallets for Cardano native tokens, DAOs, and everything in between.
Over the next few weeks, we’ll be revealing these projects, their teams, and setting some dates for their IDO debut’s on OccamRazer! If you are thinking of applying for the Occelerator program, use our IDO application Typeform and indicate that you want to be considered for our incubator!
