Welcome to the OCCRP Medium page, where our research, tech, data, and editorial specialists share what they’ve been working on.

OCCRP is a global network that extends far beyond our reporters and editors. While they may not receive bylines, we have dozens of behind-the-scenes staff members who are deeply involved in our collaborative approach to investigative journalism.

Aside from contributing to our investigations, they develop — and constantly tinker with — tools that support journalists outside OCCRP, like our investigative data platform Aleph.

That’s why we’re launching “Unreported,” a blog that will provide a glimpse of the work that goes into our investigations before they hit the page — from software development to data analysis, obsessive fact-checking, and passionate debates about journalistic ethics.

Here are some things you can expect to read about by following OCCRP on Medium:

  • How our data team works alongside journalists to support cross-border investigations
  • Updates and new features on Aleph
  • New tech tools we’re developing
  • How researchers outside of OCCRP use Aleph and our other platforms for their investigations
  • Tips from our research team on how to hunt down shell companies and track their owners across borders
  • New initiatives from our member centers around the world

If you have ideas for Medium posts you’d like to read, let us know in the comments section below.
