Octopus Network Development and Ecosystem Updates
November 2022 Highlights
- The Octopus Network is actively phasing in the Octopus DAO launch, with the top 21 validators in staking volume acting as the first board members of Octopus DAO.
- The Appchain Candidate Voting Queue has been transferred to the governance of the Octopus DAO.
- The Winter 2022 Accelerator Program officially opened with 61 teams accepted from more than 20 countries and regions, primarily representing the GameFi, Creator Economy, NFT, and tool application sectors.
- Octopus Network has launched the first Chinese Cosmos SDK developer training.
- UniqueOne Network is in final preparations to launch its main network.
- The Octopus Network Forum is now open at forum.oct.network. You are welcome to register, express your views, and discuss community improvement suggestions.
- The Octopus Network Team attended DCENTRAL Miami, where Tech Lead Sheldon Dearr was invited to present in a panel on the multi-chain future of NFTs.

- Validator Node Automatic Deployment Service to support Google Cloud Platform (GCP) has been developed and is currently under testing.
- The Appchain Candidate Voting Queue has been transferred to the governance of the Octopus DAO. After the appchain has been audited, its proposal to join the Octopus Network will be voted on by all Octopus DAO Board Members.
- Barnacle EVM v0.9.30, an updated version of the EVM-compatible application chain development template, has been pre-released and is currently being tested on the test network.
Octopus Network Smart Contracts
The Octopus Relay is a set of smart contracts on NEAR Protocol that enables the consensus validation algorithm between Appchains and NEAR. There are two primary smart contracts, each with different uses:
- Anchor acts as the main connection between the Substrate-based appchains’ Octopus pallets and NEAR.
- Registry maintains metadata for each appchain in the Anchor contract.
- The Octopus Network Registry contract has been updated to support the new Octopus DAO Appchain Candidate Voting governance.
- The Octopus Anchor contract has been updated to support cross-chain fee optimization and other functions.

Development Implementation
- Milestone 1 — NEAR IBC TAO: Defines the standard for packet transport, authentication, and sequencing, i.e., the infrastructure layer. In the ICS, this consists of core, client, and relay classifications.

Fusotao Protocol is DEX infrastructure for building DEXs with trading privacy, minimal gas fees, and lower trading costs.

Fxdx Officially Adds $PEM
PembRock Finance is the first leveraged yield farming protocol built on the NEAR blockchain.
Fusotao’s Fxdx added PEM/USDT trading pairs and held a $PEM trading contest in November. The top 30 split $1000 in $NEAR.
Myriad.Social
Myriad is a decentralized social network to turn Web2 content into sovereign Web3 data on its app, messenger, and Metaverse.
As of November, Myriad is supported in Nova Wallet.
On November 29, 2022, Founder of Myriad, Pandu Sastrowardoyo, was featured on Fox Business Network, New to The Street where she discussed free speech, Twitter, Elon Musk, and how Myriad will disrupt the future of social media via decentralization rather than anarchy.
Power, responsibility, and profitability are sharded — transferred from centralized corporate authority into the hands of individuals who host servers for the platform and manage user communities.
Atocha Protocol
Atocha Protocol is a decentralized protocol for creating and solving puzzles with prizes.
Atocha Hosts Thanksgiving Puzzle Contest
On November 23rd, Atocha and Nepbot held a Thanksgiving Puzzle Contest.

Discovol DAO
Global content curation collaboration.
Discovol is building a messaging function so that curators and audiences can communicate with each other on the platform. They have also started building the first Mini -DAO Collection.
Portalverse Network
PortalVerse is a decentralized cloud gaming network for open and highly immersive virtual worlds (MMOs).
On November 30, Portalverse kicked off the #PortalverseQuiz campaign, which will occur every Friday in December at 20:00 BST.

UniqueOne.Network
UniqueOne.Network is building a multi-layered value ecology with “NFT Marketplace-Metaverse-DeFi” structure. The UoNo NFT Marketplace will seamlessly connect the metaverse UniqueOne.World, integrating the NFT and metaverse experience.
Web3 Advocate Vivi Lin hosts “Meet the Appchain,” featuring Jason Wong, Business Development Manager of UniqueOne Network, who shares some interesting insights into why UniqueOne Network will truly be a unique appchain.

Octopus Network Community Governance
The 4th Octopus DAO Community Call was a particularly lively event with rich community discussion.
Some key points from Community Call #4:
- New Re-Delegate function on the main web to help delegates actively participate in governance.
- Changed the distribution of rewards to Octopus Accelerator winning teams to reduce the risk to the Octopus Network community.
- We are gradually launching Octopus DAO, and the top 21 verifiers in pledge volume will become the first board members of Octopus DAO.
- We have improved the corresponding mechanism of application chain exit.
- The hardware configuration of the verifier nodes needs to be upgraded with the growth of the application chain project.
- The Octopus network forum is now open at forum.oct.network. You are welcome to register, express your views and discuss community improvement suggestions.
Octopus DAO Launches Proof of Attendance Medal NFT
Beginning with Community Call #4, members who have participated in the entire meeting will receive Octopus Network Community Call Medal NFTs as non-transferable Proof of Attendance. The medals represent the degree of attention and contribution to the community and will gradually grant rights and interests in the process of community development.

Octopus Accelerator Program
