We certainly don’t want to wish away summer. It’s our favorite season! But now that it’s August, the first signs of fall will be here before you know it. Fall 2017 is jam packed with some exciting new trends you’ll definitely want to try. Some trends from last fall will be sent packing, while others are getting an updated, more relaxed feel for the new season.

Check out the trends we are most excited about below. Let us know which one is your favorite in the comments section!

The Messy Chignon

Top knots are moving to the back burner as lower, messier buns take center stage. This modern take on a sleek chignon is more undone and carefree. You can use a curling wand to curl your hair into loose waves first then loosely pin your hair into a low, messy bun at the nape of your neck. This look is perfect for work or a formal event.

However, be cautious of flyaways with this look. Be sure to lock your style in place with plenty of flexible hold hairspray and soften the loose pieces around your face with a bit of Moroccan Oil that will add shine and well as staying power.

Classic Red Nails

Whether burgundy or bright, red nails are back in a big way this fall and winter. This look is best done on short square or oval nails and is a classic way to add a little color to your look. Nail art has taken a more subdued approach in the past few seasons, so keep your nail art simple with red nails so you don’t take away from the already bold color of your nails. Here are some great red colors to try:

Colorful Eye Makeup

Your lips don’t have to be the only place on your face for a pop of color. This Fall, forget about subdued browns and neutrals, it is all about bold colorful eye looks. So don’t pack up your bright purple and shimmering yellow shadows you used during the summer. This fall, your eye look should be as colorful as the changing leaves on the trees. Try out this look with a bold eyeshadow palette like NYX’s ultimate shadow palette in Brights.

Contour No More

Say ‘see ya later’ to excessive face contouring. This Fall, it is all about dewy, glowing, natural looking makeup with bold brows and natural lashes. For all you beauties who could never quite get the hang of the perfect contour, you can breathe a sigh of relief!

But, don’t forget to invest in a good highlighter and some peachy-pink blush. The no-contour makeup look looks best with a dewy finish.

Curls, curls, everywhere!

Step away from flatiron, keratin treatments, relaxers, etc and embrace your gorgeous curls! Fall and winter are the perfect times to wear your hair in it’s natural state. The dry hair and cold temps can make your hair dry and damaged, and daily heat styling will only make the situation worse. However, be sure to invest in the curly hair holy trinity before you go curly in the months to come: a deep conditioner, a wide tooth comb, and a diffuser.
