Introducing OctoMaps!

Octoly is growing and innovating every day! A few months ago, we were sitting in a conference room talking about how talented and amazing you all are when we realized that many of you live very close together, but probably don’t realize it. We think it is important to surround yourself with people who inspire you and push you to be your best self. We want to make sure you have an opportunity to meet and connect with other Octoly creators. So we decided to launch — drumroll please — OctoMaps!

OctoMaps is a brand new feature in the Octoly app. It is now available in the US, France, and Spain.

This amazing new tool has been designed with one mission in mind: to help influencers and brands connect and collaborate in real life! This innovative feature is now available on your Octoly app. (If you don’t have the app, get to it! Download it on your iPhone or Android, like, ASAP.)

What is OctoMaps?

OctoMaps is a seriously amazing new Octoly app feature that makes all your networking dreams come true. This new feature helps you connect and collaborate with like-minded influencers and top brands in real life. This means you will now be able to attend exciting events created by influencers and brands around you!

Who can create an event on OctoMaps?

• Influencers who are signed up on Octoly and have downloaded the Octoly app
• The Octoly team We love meeting our community and creating fun experiences. Keep your eyes peeled for exciting events in your city!
• Brands Our brand partners are dying to meet you. Be it a store opening, a master class, a party, or a workshop, brands will now be able to publish new events on OctoMaps so you can partake in all the fun!

What kind of events can you create on OctoMaps?

• Influencer meetups: Lunches, drinks, dinners, photo and video shoots, collabs, etc.
• Free activities: Local workout sessions, clothing exchanges, networking events, and more!
• Workshops with brands
• Parties with brands
• (The opportunities are endless!)

Wow, this sounds amazing! How does it work in the app?

How to view events on OctoMaps?

To open OctoMaps, click on the Map tab located in the middle of the footer menu.

Your location on OctoMaps coincides with the location you signed up with on your Octoly account. You can check events happening around your area. You can also zoom out to check what’s happening in other cities and other countries where Octoly is present.

How to create an event on OctoMaps

To create an event on OctoMaps click on the plus sign in the upper right corner.

Select the type of event you want to create:

• Invitation for a creative collaboration with another influencer (i.e. photo shoot)
• +1 ticket for an event
• Special event

Add in all other event info: The event name, the location, the date, and the time it starts.

Write a description to generate buzz. (Stumped on what to write? Here are a few pointers…)

• Repeat the location (any other important info) just to make sure viewers have all the deets
• Include examples, ideas, suggestions of what’s going to go on at the event (paint the scene!)
• Include any specificities you think are important (i.e. YouTubers, Fashion Influencers, Makeup Experts, Photogs, etc.)
• Include the number of spots available and how you will select attendees

Your event can be set to Public or Private. A private event will be only visible to influencers you have invited.

To invite people to a Private Event, click on the “Invite” button on your event page. Enter influencers’ names in the search bar. Once selected, click “Send” to send out invitations.

How to edit an event on OctoMaps

You can edit any event that is live on OctoMaps. Go on your event page, click “Edit Event”. You can now edit anything about the event (location, date, etc.).

If you want to change the status of your event from Public to Private, you totally can. Just turn the “Private Event?” button from YES to NO.

How to moderate event on OctoMaps:

Once your event is live, influencers will be able to follow the event. When an influencer taps on “Interested” you will receive a notification to your mobile phone. You can also view the number of influencers that are planning to attend the event on the Events page.

You can also moderate an event using the chat room feature. You can:

• Post regular messages in the chat room and send updates to the influencers who are following the event
• Answer any questions posted in the chat room
• Generate buzz and excitement!
• Make sure that everyone is behaving themselves and keeping things professional in the chat room

How to know who’s coming:

On your event page, you can also see who is interested in your event (and who’s not).

To do so, click on the button on the right top corner of your event page. On this new page, you can access all details about the event: the description, location, who is invited, those who are interested and those who are not.

You can also access that same info from events you haven’t created the same way.

What to do before the event:

We recommend that you create your event on OctoMaps at least a week in advance. Whenever you have all the info you should post it ASAP, that way influencers have ample time to see it and opt in. This also gives you more time to make any changes if needed.

Once your event is created, you can activate the chat room, answer any questions, and contact influencers that are interested to confirm their attendance.

What to do during the event:

First and foremost, be yourself! You are the best! This is your time to shine and we can guarantee that other influencers are dying to meet you. So don’t be nervous, your event will be wonderful!

A few extra pointers (just in case!)…

• Know your audience. This one is important! Before each event, check the profiles of the influencers you don’t know yet. This will make introductions a little less awkward.
• Hospitality is key. Every guest should feel special at your event. As the organizer, try your best to chat with everyone, show interest, and ask questions. It’s an amazing opportunity to learn from each other.
• Make connections. Introduce people to each other to make them feel comfortable.
• Always be on. Don’t forget to keep your professional hat on. Don’t be too stiff, but remember that you are representing your personal brand. And your personal brand is chic. Always.
