Why us?

We’re not your typical wealth management company. We’re here to blow away the cobwebs and breathe new life into personal finance.

We help our clients tackle some of the big, personal questions in life, by putting a plan in place that maps towards the answers. Why? Because we strongly believe that some questions are too big to tackle alone, and that financial advice can transform lives for the better. We also think that getting help should be a positive and uplifting experience: an aspiration, not an anxiety.

How can you help?

We have an exciting opportunity for an ambitious, empathetic and talented software engineer to join our small dynamic team (which is backed by an £8bn investment business of highly experienced and talented individuals). We’re in the early stages of our life, but our mission is clear: to create a world where people are free to enjoy their life, not worry about how to pay for it.

We’re developing technology that’ll create a new type of user experience for clients of financial advisers. It’ll also be the key to lowering our costs, helping us bring the benefits of tailored financial advice to more and more people.

What’ll you be doing?

As a senior software engineer at Octopus Wealth, you’ll be working closely with the tech lead to define the frontend stack and translate business needs into technical requirements and a roadmap.

You’ll want to build and lead a team, hiring and mentoring junior engineers. Prior experience leading a team is nice to have, but not essential.

How do we work?

Our tech stack is based on Python and Typescript utilising the Quart and React frameworks respectively. We practice continuous deployment via docker containers to a k8s environment.

We work in diverse cross functional teams comprised of full lifecycle developers, designers and product managers, meaning you’ll be happy taking a business need into production and then keeping it in operation. We are looking for engineers who want to learn and grow their skills, and are driven to continually push to improve the stack. A good understanding of computer science fundamentals and prior experience in the technologies used is desired.

And the vital statistics?

We’re offering a salary of £70 to £100k depending on experience and expertise. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including generous holiday allowance, private healthcare and a host of workplace rewards.

Though our team’s internationally diverse and our outlook global, unfortunately we can’t sponsor visa applicants at the moment.
