In the previous blog we discussed the need for an Alliance that collectively solves shared objectives. In this blog we discuss in more detail what the Alliance intends to achieve and how it will do that.

Alliances come in many different shapes and sizes. Common for them are that they try to address requirements across a broader scope attempting to unify and/or forge a path forward for an industry. There is always a lot of good intentions but often the practical aspects of the ‘how to’ are not addressed.

The intention of the OEL Alliance is one of practicality. One where members find useful assistance, support, access etc., to the world of blockchain as it relates to supply chain and logistics and how to apply it in their respective companies.

The Alliance consists of 3 membership tiers:

· Tier 1 — The Enterprise Council

· Tier 2 — Premium Members

· Tier 3 — General Members

Members come from all walks of supply chain and logistics life — from large conglomerates to small and medium-sized enterprises to shipping lines, airlines, road transporters and 3PL’s as well as supporting players within the industry. The broad applications of the OEL Enterprise Architecture will enable an array of use cases across the industry.

While the Alliance provides many of the topics of a typical alliance structure such as newsletters and general information access including shared use cases, it is the more practical aspects that makes joining the OEL Alliance such an interesting proposition.

Quarterly web-conferences will keep Tier 1 and 2 members updated on the latest developments and allow for engagement with the management and the developers behind the Foundation and the Architecture. This will assist members in learning and expanding their company’s understanding and usage of blockchain.

Access to Software Development Kits (SDK) and dApps support will enable members to use the blockchain code available in Github to develop their own blockchain applications. In addition, access to Smart Contract Libraries will allow members to take advantage of community led development. There will also be opportunities to engage OEL Foundation developers directly for one on one use case and development support.

The Alliance will also have subject matter expert groups. These expert groups will be composed of different types of members and will have multiple objectives. In addition to this we expect to have several different knowledge partners from universities who will be making different contributions and form the basis for the academic aspect of the Alliance.

An annual Blockchain Conference is planned with the first event expected at the end of the 2nd quarter of 2019.

With this set-up we aim to create true value for members making it as practical as possible and thus making a real impact on the industry.

The OEL Foundation Alliance is accepting memberships now. You can contact us by joining our community on Telegram, or by writing to us directly at hello@oel.foundation
