The OEL Foundation is delighted to announce that Roger Crook, the former CEO of DHL Global Forwarding and the current CEO of Capital Springboard, has joined the Foundation as a Board Member.

Roger Crook is an entrepreneur, business angel, and independent board and strategic advisor in logistics and financial technology including blockchain ICOs and cryptocurrencies. He is the CEO of Capital Springboard, a fintech startup in Singapore, and strategic advisor to private equity in Europe and Asia as well as a board advisor to several startup companies in the Americas, Asia, and Europe in fintech and logistics tech with a focus on disruptive models.

Crook was formerly a Member of the Board of Management, Deutsche Post AG (DeutschePost DHL, a Dax 30 listed company) and Global Chief Executive Officer, DHL Global Forwarding & Road Freight Division from 2011 until 2015. The division had revenues of around €15 billion, with approximately 45,000 employees and operated in more than 200 countries and territories.

Crook brings with him decades worth of experience in the logistics industry in c-level leadership, operational knowledge, and strategic planning. The addition of his experience is a huge benefit to the Foundation.

Crook becomes the fourth member of the board, joining OpenPort CEO Max Ward, OpenPort CFO Nicolas Husson, and BSA Logistics CEO Paul Good. With this crucial position filled, the board of directors and advisory committee are enthusiastic about the current progress and industry reception towards the vision of creating a community-led blockchain platform for logistics and supply chains. “Supply chain is easily one of the most powerful, practical and feasible applications for blockchain. Commonly, industry disruptions happen in the presence of two things: a disruptive set of technologies that tackle common inefficiencies, and an industry that is filled with said inefficiencies,” shared Crook.

“Supply chain fits these criteria, and it’s only a matter of time before each piece falls into the right place, guided by the work of the OEL Foundation. I expect that digital verification of goods and shipments will become an integral part of every major industry in the future and blockchain will be a key tenant of that.” Crook added.

Max Ward, as a co-founder of the Foundation, warmly welcomed Roger Crook’s expertise saying “Roger Crook is an outstanding figure not only in the logistics industry but in disruptive technologies in general. Roger’s presence on the board strengthens our position as the primary platform bringing together supply chain participants to explore and develop blockchain applications. Leading the blockchain-powered logistics movement is a huge task, but the Foundation is fortunate to be guided by leaders of Roger’s caliber, in addition to our wonderful partners and Alliance members. Today’s announcement is another vote of confidence in our vision for the future.”
