The Kim Jong-Un Scare Sheds Light on the Extreme Press Regulations in North Korea

A RECENT INCIDENT involving a sudden health complication with North Korea’s Chief of State has shed light on the nation’s extreme media restrictions.

Last month, American media began raising questions concerning the North Korean Chief of State Kim Jong-un as his whereabouts were trying to be traced. However, this is not the only time that Kim has evaded the media for an extended period of time; he had disappeared similarly in 2014.

The official’s more recent absence of several weeks, which included missing a notable government-influenced holiday on April 15, led to skepticism regarding his health. A number of designated negotiations for relations between North Korea and the United States had fallen through.

The US began paying close attention to any reports focusing on the Chief of State’s health that might be released. Eventually, via the digital news outlet Daily NK, it was stated the country’s leader had undergone a cardiovascular procedure on April 12.

The same publication claimed obesity and smoking to be contributing factors to Kim’s health condition. Statements from various news sources were frequently left unconfirmed. Apparently, the dictator’s condition required the placement of a stent. According to a Japanese magazine…
