You might remember a story I wrote a while back, on a man who snapped and went on a rampage in a stolen tank. Well, this time around here’s another case of a man who snapped and went on a rampage in a tank as well, except in this one, he took to homemade measures rather than theft.

Yep, you heard that right: a guy built a tank to get revenge on those he felt wronged him.

Now, I know what you’re thinking. How do you build a tank? Well, here lies the story:

Background

The guy in question, Marvin Heemeyer lived in Grand Lake, Colorado, which is about 16 miles from Granby. He was said to have moved to town over ten years before the incident. His friends have also stated that he had no relatives in the area.

One friend, John Bauldree, described Heemeyer as likable, while the latter’s brother, Ken, said of his brother “[Marvin] would bend over backward for anyone.” While many described Heemeyer as affable, one resident, Christie Baker, claimed that Heemeyer threatened her husband after he refused to pay for a disputed muffler repair. She added that her husband later paid Heemeyer $124 through an intermediary.
