When Christopher Vanished

A disappearance can happen under any set of conditions, although these circumstances are not always apparent or known. Despite facing the unknown, those involved in the fight for answers will not give up on seeing such a case receive its closure.

One such case is that of Christopher Kerze, who vanished in 1990 under unclear circumstances, and whose disappearance remains unsolved.

Who is Christopher?

Christopher Matthew Kerze was born on February 19, 1973. At the time of his disappearance in 1990, Christopher was 17-years-old and attending high school in Eagan, Minnesota. He was known for being an excellent student, having been invited to join the National Honor Society; he was also a National Scholar semi-finalist. He had hobbies which included camping, skiing, reading, computers, and laser tag.

Disappearance

On April 20, 1990, Christopher told his parents, Jim and Loni, that he had a severe headache and felt ill, to which his parents let him stay home from school. Both his parents soon left to tend to other matters, leaving Christopher to get some rest.

Upon returning home later, however, his parents were met with a confusing scene. The family’s van, a light blue 1988 Dodge Caravan was gone. They went inside looking for Christopher, only to discover he was gone as well. The family dog was found running loose around the property. A note spotted on the kitchen table reportedly read:

“Mom, Something important came up + feeling somewhat better. Back by six. (Unless I get lost*) Love, Chris”.

What exactly did he mean by this?

*The oddest part of the note was that the word “lost” had been underlined twice.

Despite what the note said, Christopher did not return home, and he has not been seen or heard from since.
