Some disappearances are so baffling, with so few (if any) clues found to help point to what happened, that they test investigators to their absolute limits in terms of finding out the whereabouts of the missing. It could occur when the missing person in question was out running errands, coming home or on a date. However, what happens when someone seemingly disappears in their own home, while alone, and during a hurricane?

That’s what happened one morning when a 13-year-old girl living with her mother in Tupelo, Mississippi vanished under dangerous circumstances, made all the worse with a storm brewing.

Background

Leigh Marine Occhi, born on August 21, 1979, in Honolulu, Hawaii to Donald Occhi and Vickie Felton, both of whom were members of the U.S. Army; her parents met while serving in the army in California, and later married in 1977. However, the marriage sadly did not last, and they divorced in 1981.
