“Poetry is what in a poem makes you laugh, cry, prickle, be silent, makes your toe nails twinkle, makes you want to do this or that or nothing, makes you know that you are alone in the unknown world, that your bliss and suffering is forever shared and forever all your own. “— Dylan Thomas

April is undoubtedly the best month for discovering new poets, reading astonishing poems and connecting with readers who breathe poetry. The National Poetry Month kicked off this April with a bang, or like a subtle breeze that gradually picks up the pace and turns into a storm before you know it, and I mean that in a good way, of course.

As a poet, your creativity, imagination, passion and wordplay are all polished this month as you keep writing and reading a plethora of poems but let’s be honest, it is hard. Art is hard. It is important not to lose the sense of self and drive behind writing, which is NOT to race but create calmly to your heart’s content.

With two more weeks of NaPoWriMo left, I just want to tell everyone who is writing every day that you're doing great, and I root for you…

I write because i’m aware of the power words have. I use mine to tell stories, rant on issues that bother me and turn my life and self into poetry.
