Life is a journey. It is a gift which allows us to be strengthened with fortitude, if we will only see it as the source of inner strength in
our lives….

The destruction of the foundation of family and the place of women in the divine order was made clear to me after coming home from a Spiritual Retreat….

As a young girl at the age of nine(9) or ten(10) years old, I watched many males beat their wives or mates into a bloody stupor. Bruised and battered these women would make excuses and cover themselves to hide from the inquiries of their neighbors. Everyone would pretend as if nothing had happened, especially the woman.

Yet, she would go right back to the abuser.

My mother, Sisters and Sister-friends have all lived through similar horrors.

The abuse was bad enough for most women, but the sense of helplessness and the belief further engendered by society that this kind of treatment is our lot is truly unacceptable.

To add insult to injury not only must women accept physical and mental abuse at the hands of those who say they love them, they must also accept the institutional biases that go along with this kind of abuse in many cases.

The status and equality of women with men the world over is eroding faster than we think.
