Virtual Academy Faculty
Meet some of the wonderful faculty Virtual Academy students can learn from!
We are fortunate to work with some incredible educators through Virtual Academy! How they got connected to CTC and their specialties vary, but every single CTC teaching artist is passionate about providing young people with theatre experiences that educate, challenge, and inspire them.
Meet Tally!
“The best surprise about teaching virtually is that the students can use their space and their cameras in more creative ways. There are unlimited possibilities that the camera brings to the creative process.”
Tally first joined us at CTC as a choreographer for Mulan. Since then, Tally has choreographed multiple performances including Cinderella, Dr. Seuss’s How The Grinch Stole Christmas!, and Roald Dahl’s Matilda the Musical. Tally teaches multi-level dance/movement for CTC and, as a former Broadway performer, says it feels wonderful to give back to youth who are so eager and open to learn.
Meet Corrine!
“My Virtual Academy students have inspired me through the loving way they invite me into their homes. They have inspired me by showing what bravery and enjoyment look like and that the two can co-exist. They have inspired me in the way they have taken one of the hardest parts about the pandemic, social distancing, and made it something still so great for an hour each week.”
Corrine (she/her) has been teaching dance/movement for all ages at CTC since she joined as a teaching artist seven years ago!
Meet Jen!
“I have been surprised by what is possible! How there’s certain games that we can do online that we couldn’t do in person. That you can still create real connection, even if the internet is slow. It’s amazing.”
Jen (she/her) first came to CTC as a performer and was a musician/actor for Brooklyn Bridge in 2005. Since then, she’s been bringing her experience as a professional improviser (catch her performing with HUGE Theatre!) and storyteller to our students in our improv and devising classes.
Meet Kiko!
“The best surprise about teaching virtually is the pure joy it has brought me to see students who are still ready and willing to learn despite having their worlds flipped upside down. These kids have the best smiles and attitudes and it just brings me indescribable happiness to see them dancing around their homes during our Zoom call every week.”
Kiko (she/her) first connected with CTC as a high school student. After interning with CTC’s Neighborhood Bridges program, Kiko has continued touching our student’s lives as a teaching artist. In addition to teaching residencies, she also teaches early childhood and acting classes with Virtual Academy.
