The player with the most appearances for the club:

The leader on the pitch, a role model for every Groguet, a person who knows very well about ‘Endavant’ and loyalty. This is Bruno Soriano, who has spent his entire career at Villarreal and has played 417 matches for the club. The left-footed midfielder has the ability to control the tempo of the game and has incredible vision to pick out an inch-perfect pass.

Current first-team player with most appearances for Spain:

Santi Cazorla, who made his senior debut for Spain in a victory against Peru in May 2008. The academy graduate has played 78 games for his country and scored 14 goals, and was part of La Roja’s UEFA Euro 2008 and 2012 winning squads. Cazorla, who turned 34 in December, is still an immensely talented player and a key part of the first-team squad.

The most successful manager in Villarreal history:

The manager with the most matches (250) and, the most successful coach at Villarreal CF was Manuel Pellegrini. Under the Chilean , the club achieved a third-place finish in La Liga in 2004/05, a Champions League semi-final in 2005/06 and then a second-place finish in La Liga in 2007/08, which is the side’s best ever league campaign.

Villarreal CF 8–0 UD Almería

In the 2018/19 season, Villarreal faced UD Almería in the Round of 32 of the Copa del Rey. After the first leg ended in a 3–3 draw, the second leg was a complete performance by the Yellows, winning 8–0 at the Estadio de la Cerámica.

The man of the match was our №17, Karl Toko Ekambi, who scored four goals. That included his first hat-trick for the club, in just 36 minutes. He scored in the 23rd, 30th, 36th and 47th minutes.

The other goal scorers were Gerard Moreno (67), Carlos Bacca (45, 83) and Daniel Raba (89).

Attacking strength

It could be said, that the club has always had a good touch, related to the strikers of the last few years.

Since the 2003/04 season, the Yellow Submarine has always had a striker with ten or more goals in LaLiga (except the 2011/12 season when Marco Ruben scored nine).

The clear record-holder is Diego Forlan, who has scored 25 goals in 2004/05, winning the Golden Boot.

Top goalscorer of all time:

The striker with the most goals for Villarreal is Giuseppe Rossi. The Italy international scored 82 goals in 191 matches. This is a great achievement and it will take some time and energy to push him off the throne. Endavant!

He’s followed by Diego Forlán, who has 58 goals in 121 appearances, and then Cédric Bakambu, who scored 47 in 105.
