Up Close With: Boddhi Satva

When it comes to dance music, few producers can claim the same authority that Boddhi Satva has. Known affectionately as the founding father of Ancestral Soul, Boddhi’s music has spirituality as the central hallmark and uses the thread of soul music to weave a seamless tapestry of African music styles, set to the pace of house music changing entirely the way the genre is perceived and experienced…

When did you realize you wanted to be a DJ/Producer?

Being a producer, I believe came to me very early on. I always wanted to create music. Deejaying came in later on, when I was 18 years old.

Do you remember your first gig?

Yes very well I was hired to play for a fundraiser in Brussels. It was the good old days when I would take my complete desktop computer and cd’s etc… Great experience.

Can you tell us more about the idea behind Offering Recordings?

When I created Offering Iwanted to be a platform that bridges the gap between Underground and Mainstream music while pushing a very profound and positive message. A platform also meant to push strong and deeply connected music to anything authentic.

What advice would you give to the next generation?

To be bold and creative, to not take anything for granted and to be better than you was the day before.

Finally, what are you looking forward to over the rest of the year? Anything professional or personal?

I’m excited to be releasing my collaboration with Bilal, move to South Africa and travel the African Continent until next year. Take Offering together with Sifa to it’s next level and overall just experience all the blessings and challenges ahead. :-)
