At OfferUp, we believe we are only as strong as our communities and the relationships we create within them. That’s why being neighborly is one of our core company values, and it’s also why every year, in honor of National Good Neighbor Day, we take a closer look at how people are connecting and relating with their communities.

Our 2020 Good Neighbor Day Report includes data from our more than 20 million monthly buyers and sellers. Our profile and rating system allows people to rate each other after transactions on things like reliability and friendliness, so we can get a glimpse based on this data into how Americans are interacting with each other.

This year, we also decided to look at how people are using OfferUp to give back to their communities during this challenging year. Over the past several months, we’ve witnessed people engage in countless examples of generosity on the marketplace by donating items that have been hard to find and are in high demand due to the Coronavirus pandemic. And despite the pandemic, our data shows that Americans are more generous, friendlier, and reliable than last year.

We’re encouraged to see that even in these uncertain times, many Americans are still taking the time to be kind to one another and extend a helping hand. And now that we’ve combined OfferUp and letgo into a single marketplace, I’m sure we can expect to see even more examples of buyers and sellers making meaningful connections in their communities.

We hope you are as inspired by these findings as we are, and that you consider taking the time to connect with a fellow neighbor and help create a friendlier, safer community for everyone.

Onward,
