Looking back on eMerge Americas, we couldn’t have asked for a better venue to meet with customers, entrepreneurs and the more than 16,000 attendees to discuss innovation in Miami. In my latest blog, I talked about the importance of bringing the local business ecosystem together to discuss broader themes and share ideas for innovation. As a member of that community serving other Miami businesses and residents, Atlantic Broadband has continued its commitment to looking forward and offering next-generation technology that enables faster and more efficient business.

Throughout the show, I spoke and met with many other leaders who uphold these values across industries. Some of the notable trends I observed include:

The Importance of Bandwidth

Across Atlantic Broadband customers and those who were just getting to know the company, everyone echoed a common need for more internet bandwidth. Whether it’s within a big enterprise, small local business or in the home, the number of devices that rely on the internet is increasing. In order to do business efficiently, upload and download speeds need to be fast and reliable, as does access to servers and the cloud. Business leaders echoed their reliance on increased bandwidth and were pleased that providers like Atlantic Broadband have continued to invest in new technologies like fiber through the acquisition of FiberLight’s South Florida network.

The Power of Hosted Voice

Another common theme I heard from business leaders was a demand for advanced Hosted Voice offerings. Across enterprises and SMBs alike, alternative working situations are on the rise as more employees work from home, part-time or travel. Furthermore, Miami faces the unique challenge of regular annual hurricanes and tropical storms which can shut down buildings or cause technical failures. Hosted Voice features enable employees to take their work on-the-go, whether for regularly scheduled meetings or in case of an emergency. The result is that business can run as usual without interruptions or customer issues.

Other topics I saw promoted included the rise of AI and the importance of reliability. Both of these themes tie closely in with our goals at Atlantic Broadband — as more companies invest in smart devices, AI and machine learning, the more they will come to rely on their providers to ensure their networks and business services operate at a high level. We remain consistent in our commitment to reliability, as well as speed, and see ourselves as an extension of our customers’ business, enabling them to make Miami into the tech hub of the future.
