INBLOCKS Conference in Jakarta, Indonesia (15 September, 2018)
“Indonesia. Insight. Innovate.”
Rate3 was specially invited as the Main Sponsor for Indonesia’s largest blockchain conferenece, INBLOCKS 2018. Rate3 Network CEO and Co-Founder Jake was also cordially invited to share about Rate3, and discuss key issues pertaining to Indonesia’s blockchain scene with the CSO of the Indonesia Commodity & Derivatives Exchange, the CEO of TTC Protocol, and representatives from many other crypto players.
Why Indonesia?
Indonesia is the LARGEST country in Southeast Asia (SEA), with a population of 266 million citizens:
- Blockchain tech set to transform the peer-to-peer financial service offerings in Indonesia
- Stellar is the first syariah approved blockchain for asset tokenization in Bahrain (this is very relevant to Indonesia since they are the largest muslim country in the world) — and Rate3 is built on Stellar!
- Blockchain community is growing in Indonesia, so much so that an Indonesian Blockchain Association has been established
- Indonesia’s Central Bank (Bank of Indonesia) has plans to launch their own digital currency.
With Indonesia’s sheer size, it has great potential as the next blockchain hub in SEA!

Panel Discussion: The Balance between Regulations & Disruption of Blockchain
Next up is a highly-anticipated panel discussion about the future of Blockchain!
From left: Mr Lenon from ICDX representative, Mr Kai from Tokocrypto, Mr Brian from TTC Protocol, and Jake.
Bappebti (Future exchange security board) is proactively engaging exchanges to increase conversation on blockchain & its future direction in Indonesia. We’re heartened to see the Indonesian government taking active initiatives to support the blockchain industry in Indonesia itself.
Jake was asked many questions from the public, two memorable ones are as follow:
Question: Why use Ethereum & Stellar? Why not use side-chain/off-chain?
Jake: “Side-chain solves TPS cost but does not bring different blockchains together. Cross-chain (atomic swap) allows us to tap on the advantages of different blockchain.”
Question: Why Indonesia?
Jake: Size matters! Korea is the hub of blockchain, but Indonesia also has the potential to be a really important market because of its sheer size!
This marks the end of INBLOCKS 2018! Once again, Rate3 is honored to participate and help grow the Indonesian blockchain scene.
