Truck driving is one of the most important jobs in the US. According to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, 71 percent of the nation’s freight by weight was moved by truck in 2017. With 3.5 million truck drivers on the road, they are the lifeblood of our economy. But truck driving can also be a dangerous job. Truck drivers shoulder risk every time they get behind the wheel.

Last March, we launched Uber Freight Plus to bring discounts to carriers and their drivers, from phone bills to fuel, that could make their lives easier. Today, we’re extending the program by partnering with Stride Health, so that Stride can make affordable health insurance available to Uber Freight carriers, drivers, dispatchers, and their families.

With long hours on the road, health insurance may not be top of mind for carriers and drivers. The sign-up process is often complex, and the insurance itself can be expensive. When Uber Freight users sign up with Stride, its healthcare recommendation engine searches through thousands of insurance plans to find a personalized fit, at an affordable price. Stride automatically checks if Uber Freight users are eligible for lower premiums, and once they’ve decided on a plan, they can enroll in as little as 10 minutes.

Uber Freight users can also benefit from special discounts on vision and dental insurance and will have access to Stride’s dedicated concierge team, a network of trained health insurance professionals available by phone, chat, or email 24/7.

For carriers that use Uber Freight, this initiative offers a simple way to provide their drivers with tailored healthcare solutions. For dispatchers and drivers, it provides confidence that they and their families are taken care of, helping them focus on the road ahead. Please visit the Uber Freight + Stride Health page to learn more about the program.
